Setting the Payment Expiration Window
You can set a specific expiration time window for your payment methods in the GoPay system, namely for a card payment, online payment button and bank transfer.
|T0||At this point the payment is created in the GoPay system|
|Ta||Customer comes to the payment gateway|
|T0->T1||Indicates the period for which the customer can select the payment method|
|Tb||Customer selects the payment method and gets redirected to the particular payment method|
|T1||If no payment method is selected, the payment/order will expire|
|Tb*||Customer selects the payment method after the window has expired|
|T1->T2||Indicates the period for which the customer can select the payment method|
|Tc||Customer has paid|
|T2||Timeout - the payment has expired|
|Tc*||Customer pays after the window has expired, funds are to be refunded to the customer’s account|
If the customer pays after the window has expired (T2 point), the payment is automatically refunded to the customer’s account. The customer can be sent an e-mail with information about having paid after the window expired, including the fact that the payment will be automatically refunded to their bank account. If you want your notification e-mails to be sent automatically, contact GoPay support center email@example.com
Time parameters that can be set
Time window for the payment method to be selected T0 - T1 time period The default setting is 12 hours
Time window for the payment to be paid T1 - T2 time period The default setting depends on the payment method (CZK and EUR)
When can I use that?
- booking and ticket systems
- marketplaces where the goods have to be ordered in advance
1. I’m a merchant and I sell tickets on my booking website. Is such a solution suitable for me?
Of course it is. If you sell tickets and you need your customer to pay as soon as possible, then this solution is suitable for you.
In case the customer doesn’t pay for the tickets and you want to get them released, so that you can offer the tickets for sale again, you can set a 30 minute window until the payment expires (applies to a card payment).
The customer books the ticket for a preformance, then they select the GoPay payment and make the payment with a chosen payment method. If the customer hasn’t paid within that payment window, we will automatically refund that payment to the sender’s bank account.
2. I’m a merchant and my customers pay basically with a bank transfer. There's a 7-14 day limit for the bank transfer payment, which isn’t convenient for me. Can I set an upper limit?
Yes, you can. If the 14 day limit for a bank transfer doesn’t suit you, you can set a different expiration window - either longer, or shorter. If your customers pay 3 weeks after they have created the payment, you can set a 1 month expiration window for the payment order.
