What is the fee for card payments comprised of?

The total fee charged for card payments depends on whether the card (by which the payment is made) is subject to regulation (European Parliament and Council Regulation 2015/751) or not.

There are three sections which determine the final amount of fee charged for both regulated and not regulated cards:

  • Interchange fee - fee paid to a bank which issued the particular payment card (customer's bank)

  • Fee paid to a card association - fee paid to a card company (VISA or MasterCard) which processed the particular card transaction

  • Other fees - fees divided between bank institutions and other companies which participate in payment process

You can see fees charged for the most used types of cards in List of fees for payment gateway in effect as of 1/7/2023. Below you can see fees for other types of cards.
