Before the payment gateway is launched, your portal must contain important information.
You will find what that information is below in this article.
Please note: The absence of some of the requirements for a merchant outlet may be grounds for a fine from third parties (the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, the card schemes and so on).
By complying with these conditions you will reduce the number of possible disputes and customer complaints, and also the possibility of a fine from third parties.
The information given should be easy for the customer to find; the terms and conditions, for example, should be placed on the home page.
Every e-shop or sales website of yours must contain:
Identification details of the operator of the merchant outlet
You can include your company's identification details in the terms and conditions. These are in particular:
the company name
the company registration number (IČO)
the exact address (street, house number, postcode, town, country)
Please note: these requirements must also be met by the registered URL address of the merchant outlet!
The GoPay payment gateway cannot be registered for URL addresses of social networks (Facebook, Instagram and so on).
Contact details
It is not enough to place the contact details only in the terms and conditions.
Ideally, put them in the footer of the website or in the Contact section, or in the About us section.
Contact details include:
your company's e-mail
your company's telephone number
A description of the goods or service offered
You should have a description for every item of goods, product or service. The customer should always know what goods or service they are buying. For clothing, for example, this means the material used and a size chart; for electronics it is essential to give the technical parameters; and for a service (e.g. an online course) it is appropriate to write how the service works and what it involves.
This helps the customer decide which goods to choose and prevents possible misunderstandings.
The price and the currency the transaction will be processed in
For every product you must give the final price, including any discounts or surcharges.
Do not forget to make clear whether the price is inclusive or exclusive of VAT, including the rate that will be charged to the customer.
Terms and conditions
Your website must have terms and conditions (i.e. the rules for purchasing on your website). These terms define the legal relationship between your company and the buyer.
You will find a model set of universal terms and conditions on the website of the Association for Electronic Commerce or in the attachment below the article. In any case it is best to have terms and conditions drawn up by a lawyer tailored to your e-shop.
In addition to the details of your company, the terms and conditions must contain:
information about withdrawal from the contract (by law, a period of 14 days without giving a reason)
the method of payment, delivery or performance
the costs of delivering the product
Also include the terms and conditions as an attachment to the order confirmation e-mail.
Complaints procedure and information about the warranty
Ideally, include the complaints rules in your terms and conditions.
The complaints procedure must contain:
how the customer should report a complaint
the address the goods complained about should be sent to
the conditions under which a complaint cannot be made
the necessary requirements (e.g. a complaint form)
how the customer will be contacted about the progress and subsequent handling of the complaint
Information about personal data protection
Place a text on your website describing how you handle customers' personal data, including what information you collect and for what purpose.
Confirmation that the website visitor is of age
If you sell goods intended for customers over 18 (e.g. alcohol), place an age confirmation on your website.
Information about export restrictions
If you sell abroad, also give information and rules about export restrictions (if you restrict the countries you sell to).
Logos of the payment cards accepted and logos of the 3D-Secure system
Place the logos either in the footer of the website or on the page relating to the sale of the goods or service.
Use the logos available in the article GoPay banners.
💡 GoPay tip:
You will find what the terms and conditions should look like below the article. It is the official template used by the Association for Electronic Commerce (APEK).
You will find further model forms – e.g. a form for withdrawal from a contract, universal data protection terms and so on – on the website of the e-shop solution Shoptet.
