For legal, regulatory, security and operational reasons, the payment data processed by GoPay Czech is subject to retention rules.
Under these rules, payment records older than 13 months are continuously moved from the active production environment to archive storage. Such payments and the related movements or transactions are then no longer available through the GoPay API or in GoPay Monitor.
When you query the status of a payment that has been archived, the API may return the response:
PAYMENT_NOT_FOUND
The payment may also not be traceable in GoPay Monitor, where the message „no record“ may be displayed.
This behaviour is expected and does not mean that the payment was not processed in the past. It is a logical consequence of the data being moved from the online environment to the archive environment.
The GoPay API does not serve as a long-term archive of all payment data. We therefore recommend that merchants store the payment information they need for operational records, accounting or customer support in their own systems.
Even after archiving, GoPay has to retain data to the extent laid down by the relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, fraud prevention, auditing or the protection of legal claims. Historical data is, however, available only on request and with a certain delay arising from the way it is archived long term.
💡 GoPay tip:
The official accounting documents, i.e. statements and settlements, remain available in GoPay Monitor.
If a payment or a related movement has been archived, a new one-off statement from the business account cannot be generated.
