Do you sell fast-moving goods and are you working out how to deal with paid orders when stock levels drop between the payment and the goods being picked?
To save you the cost and the trouble of possible cancellations, we have prepared an API call for partial capture of a pre-authorised payment.
How does partial capture of a pre-authorised payment work?
The customer orders goods A and B and makes the payment.
The amount A+B is pre-authorised.
The merchant finds that only goods A are in stock and requests settlement of the amount for goods A only.
The amount for goods A is taken from the customer and the part of the payment for goods B is released back to their account.
The amount for goods A is credited to the merchant's account.
How do you set up partial capture?
You will find a description of the API call in the online documentation. The functionality is currently available for CZK and EUR payments.
💡 GoPay tip: Setting up the functionality needs careful thought.
Consider whether you want to use the call for all card payments or only for payments for particular items. Applying it to all payments may delay the crediting of funds received to the business account, because payments will always only be credited once the merchant has approved the payment (e.g. according to the availability of goods in stock).
If, for example, you know that you only make cancellations for particular items because of fluctuating stock levels, we recommend setting up partial pre-authorisation only for those items.
Please note that in some cases the option of partially capturing a pre-authorised payment may not be available for a given merchant outlet, in view of the technical options of the partner providing card payments. Thank you for your understanding.
