Setting the payment lifetime

In the GoPay system it is possible to set a specific lifetime for individual payment methods, namely for payment cards, online banking buttons and bank transfers.

At this point the payment is created in the GoPay system.

The customer arrives at the payment gateway.

The period during which the customer can select a payment method.

Tb

The customer has chosen the selected payment method and is redirected to that specific payment method.

T1

Timeout (expiry) of the payment/order created, if no payment method has been selected.

Tb*

The customer selected a payment method after the set limit; an error message is displayed to the customer saying that payment is not possible.

T1->T2

The period during which the customer can pay the payment.

Tc

The customer has paid the payment

T2

Timeout/expiry of the payment lifetime.

The customer made the payment after the timeout; the money will be returned to the customer's account.

If the payment is paid only after moment T2, the payment is returned automatically to the customer. The customer can also be sent an e-mail informing them that the payment was made after the due date and will automatically be returned to the sender's account, see the example e-mail.

To set up automatic sending of e-mail messages, contact GoPay support at [email protected].

Use

  • reservation or ticketing systems

  • merchant outlets where goods have to be ordered

1. I am a merchant and sell tickets on my reservation portal. Is this solution suitable for me?

Yes. If you sell tickets and need the customer to pay as soon as possible, this solution is tailor-made for you.

If you need tickets to be released for sale again when the customer does not pay, contact us from your registered e-mail contact at [email protected] and we will adjust the payment lifetime according to your preferences.

A customer reserves a ticket for a performance, chooses to pay via GoPay and pays using the payment method selected. If a customer pays after the payment lifetime has ended, we automatically return the payment to the sender's account.

2. I am a merchant and accept payments primarily by bank transfer. The limit for a transfer payment is 7 or 14 days, which is not enough for my needs. Can a longer limit be set?

Yes. If the 14-day validity period for a bank transfer payment does not suit you, a different – shorter or longer – payment lifetime can be set. If your customers pay, say, in the 3rd week after the payment was created, the payment order can be set to be valid for 1 month from the creation of the order, for example.
