We recommend accounting for GoPay as finances, i.e. in account class 2.
Our recommendation is based on the expert opinion of an independent auditor and its correctness has also been confirmed by the Coordination Committee with the Chamber of Tax Advisers of the Czech Republic.
How does GoPay work?
As part of the cooperation with GoPay, a GoPay business account is opened for every client. The payments made for the goods or services sold are credited to it and, in accordance with the business arrangement, the fees for the services provided are deducted from it. The settlement, i.e. the transfer of funds from the GoPay business account to the client's bank account, takes place at the end of the chosen settlement period. The fees are offset within a single transaction.
How to do the accounting
For accounting, use the statement of payments made, which you can obtain for the selected period in the required format (e.g. ABO, CSV, XLS) from your GoPay business account and which we also send to your e-mail with every settlement.
Using the statement you obtain, account for it as finances in account class 2, i.e. as for a standard bank account. The only difference is that electronic money is credited to the GoPay business account. In terms of its liquidity, however, it can be defined as a cash equivalent.
The correctness of this procedure is confirmed by the auditor's opinion.
💡 GoPay tip: You will find the total amount of the fees on the account statement.
You will find a detailed overview of the fees in the document on the settlement of GoPay services, which we send to your e-mail with every settlement. You can use the document as a basis for analytical accounting or simply to check the agreed terms.
Tax records
For the purposes of tax records we recommend accounting analogously to the accounting described above, i.e. according to the statement of payments.
As confirmed by the opinion of the Coordination Committee with the Chamber of Tax Advisers of the Czech Republic,
taxable income arises at the moment the funds are credited to the GoPay business account (i.e. at the moment the electronic money is issued).
