Payment data archivation

For legal, regulatory, security, and operational reasons, payment data processed by GoPay Czech is subject to data retention policies.

As part of these policies, payment records older than 13 months are continuously moved from the active production environment to archival storage. Such payments and related movements or transactions are no longer available through the GoPay API or in the GoPay Monitor.

When querying the status of an archived payment, the API may return the following response:

PAYMENT_NOT_FOUND

At the same time, the payment may also no longer be searchable in the GoPay Monitor, where the message “no record found” may be displayed.

This behavior is expected and does not mean that the payment was not processed in the past. It is a logical consequence of moving the data from the online environment to archival storage.

The GoPay API is not intended to serve as a long-term archive of all payment data. We therefore recommend that merchants store payment information needed for operational records, accounting, or customer support within their own systems.

However, even after archival, GoPay is still required to retain data to the extent required by applicable laws, regulatory obligations, fraud prevention, audit requirements, or the protection of legal claims. Historical data is therefore available upon request only and may be subject to delays due to the nature of long-term archival storage.

Tip GoPay:
Official accounting documents, such as statements and settlements, remain available in the GoPay Monitor.

If a payment or related transaction has been archived, it is no longer possible to generate a new one-time statement from the merchant account.
